Account Executive - Personal Lines

Position Summary

We are seeking a career-minded, professional to join our Personal Lines Department as an Account Executive. Seltzer Group Partners offers a professional setting, team values, and an environment that is highly automated. Our organization is a leading independent insurance agency in northeastern Pennsylvania where our client relationships and experience set us apart. This individual will be responsible for prospecting, soliciting, quoting, and selling new Personal Lines business. Continue to counsel and market to existing clients professionally. Meet sales goals and service responsibilities in accordance with Agency Standards.

 

Skills/Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years insurance industry experience
  • Property & Casualty Pennsylvania resident insurance license required; Life & Health license preferred
  • Ability to professionally communicate verbally in person and on the telephone
  • Strong ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize workflow
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to create solutions for, and proactively manage problems for the client
  • Ability to adopt the Agency Culture
  • Professionalism in appearance, communication, and treatment of others
  • Experience in Applied Systems EPIC (desired)

Responsibilities

  • Receives and responds efficiently to new business referrals
  • Analyze and counsel existing clients and prospects on coverage needs and develop comprehensive insurance portfolio that is in the best interest of client or prospect
  • Develops and maintains relationships with centers of influences to build new business opportunities
  • Acts as a backup to Personal Lines Account Managers for servicing needs of existing clients
  • Creates detailed and accurate documentation in Applied Epic management system regarding all interactions with clients, prospects, carrier representatives, etc
  • Completes applications for insurance. Obtains all necessary file documentation. Submits for issue to eligible and appropriate carriers, staying within agency binding guidelines
  • Collects down payments from clients for purchases of new coverage and obtains signatures and other required documentation on all applications
  • Follows individual company guidelines and rules regarding binding, underwriting, time to issue, etc
  • Acknowledges non-standard coverage limitations and binding restrictions to document file and lower errors and omissions exposures
  • Develops, pursues, and completes new business sales goals
  • Actively advises and refers clients to other departments within agency to further engage client with all aspects of risk portfolio
  • Pro-actively review coverage portfolio at renewal and provides recommendations to enhance client risk management, as needed
  • Maintains daily follow up activities in accordance with procedural guidelines
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and educate clients and prospects on those trends when relevant
  • Counsels clients on loss related questions and refer to agency claims team or carrier when appropriate
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned by agency management
  • Stays abreast of and communicates to department team members regarding relevant carrier changes in underwriting, policy forms, rating, etc
  • Supports in organization and execution of department team meetings and functions, as needed
  • Uses each client contact as an opportunity for coverage review and marketing of needed coverage
Account Manager - Commercial Lines

Position Summary

Work under the direction of the Director of Client Services-Commercial Lines, to provide our commercial line customers with proactive management/services of their insurance program by obtaining, maintaining, and expanding the services of your accounts.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients to retain business
  • Represent the Agency in a professional, ethical and courteous manner consistent with the Agency image
  • Receive and return calls in a professional, timely and courteous manner, provide a positive client experience
  • Document each customer interaction in agency management system
  • Maintain confidentiality of company and client information
  • Responsible for retention goal of 98%
  • Collaborate with the sales team to develop renewal and retention plan
  • Cross sell by identifying coverage gaps
  • Service assigned book of business
  • Gather information and quote applicable carriers through rating software
  • Enter data into agency management system as needed for each client
  • Prepare applications, obtain signatures, and issue policies as directed
  • Perform account transactions, quotations, certificates, auto ID cards, binders
  • All other duties, responsibilities or activities as assigned by management

Specific Education or Experience

  • Property and Casualty License required
  • Minimum three years’ work experience
  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree preferred
  • CISR, CIC, or other professional insurance designations encouraged
Account Manager - Personal Lines

Position Summary

The primary function of this position is to meet the overall insurance needs of our clients. The Personal Lines Account Manager must provide prompt, accurate, professional service to our clients, producers, and company personnel in order to maintain and grow our personal lines book of business.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Maintaining a high level of client service and satisfaction
  • Marketing & placement of renewal accounts as appropriate
  • Achieving agency account retention goals through proactive account rounding, up-selling of limits and coverages, and providing extraordinary client service
  • Support Producers’ sales efforts by handling accounts once bound
  • Perform annual review and risk exposure analysis of renewal policies for proper coverage, incorporating information obtained from clients
  • Maintain client files and ensure proper documentation, by processing all policies, endorsement changes, invoices, binders, certificates of insurance, documentation, activities, etc., according to agency procedures, and within agency timelines
  • Maintain control of renewal expiration lists, binders, and any aged receivables in accordance with agency guidelines
  • Respond to client inquiries, incoming e-mail, mail, and company requests in accordance with agency guidelines
  • Review all items to be processed, to ensure items were received as ordered
  • Participate in courses for insurance/sales skills. Maintain current knowledge of underwriting requirements of carriers
  • Keep current with industry trends by reading appropriate journals and company bulletins
  • Participate in any special projects at management’s request

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to take direction and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Must display a positive attitude at all time with clients and fellow employees
  • Knowledge of all lines of personal insurance, including sophisticated and less common coverages, especially those products represented through agency preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of brokerage operations including claims handling, procedures, personal lines rating, agency management system, and applicable insurance laws/codes preferred
  • Experience and expertise in operating in an electronic environment; excellent automation skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, document management software, carrier proprietary systems, and phone systems

Specific Education or Experience

Risk Advisor

Position Summary

Risk Advisors are responsible for a book of business through a combination of assigned accounts with the opportunity to write new business. Risk Advisors are responsible for counseling and selling of risk management and insurance products to clients and expanding the Seltzer Brand. They are forward-facing business professionals that will be in front of clients and prospects.

Essential Job Functions

  • Identify risk management opportunities for existing and new relationships
  • Gain involvement in niches and other areas of expertise related to book of business
  • Serves as technical expert, assisting department members to resolve complex issues on accounts
  • Reviews coverage, identifies deficiencies and determines appropriate level of coverage
  • Seek outside sales opportunities through networking, referrals, asking for additional lines of business
  • Meet individual cross sell target and attend all assigned sales meetings
  • Act as producer or associate producer on book of business as assigned
  • Collaborate with the management team to develop individual annual plan including prospects and key areas of focus

Education or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 8 – 10 years related work experience
  • Valid insurance license
  • Must continue to meet Continuing Education requirements for license renewal
Risk Executive

Position Summary

Risk Executives are responsible for the counseling and selling of insurance products to potential customers and expanding the Seltzer Brand while providing customers with the highest level of service and achieving production and business growth goals. They are responsible for building a book of business through relationships in associations, centers of influence, calling, and asking for referrals. They are forward-facing business professionals that will be in front of clients and prospects.
