Ultimate happiness. Overwhelming fulfillment. Pure joy. These are just a few ways that we can begin to describe the feelings our team felt on Friday, August 23 – the day following our 21st annual charity golf outing to benefit the Special Olympics. Reflecting on the day, we feel honored to say that we had over 120 individuals participate. Whether it be for the benefit of the cause, to network, friendly competition, or to see old friends, every golfer took a swing of the club with a smile on their face.
We have so many memorable events from the day, and so many people to thank for their generosity. One of the biggest excitements of this year was the Corporate Dinner Sponsorship which was graciously donated by Donegal Insurance Group. With their $5,000 contribution, we will be able to significantly reduce our overhead costs and in turn, increase the overall bottom line of the donation to the cause. Many other partners and friends of our agency also contributed to help increase the proceeds of the day: Berks Fire Water Restorations, Inc. kept all the golfers hydrated on the 85-degree day by supplying all the bottled water we could need, and long-time partners Westfield Insurance and The Cincinnati Insurance Company were gracious enough to provide giveaways for our raffle. And last, but certainly not least, we proudly displayed over 35 hole sponsors on the day of the event thanks to our golfers and donators.
The old saying, “it takes an army” proved its meaning that day. From our Seltzer Group team of almost 10 people banning together in the early morning hours to make sure we had everything set up and ready to go, to the Country Club staff working diligently to make sure all of the fine details were executed properly – including the outstanding conditions of the course, to the amazing participation and enthusiasm presented by the 4 individuals representing the Schuylkill County Special Olympics. Every person’s hard work did not go unnoticed, and the day wouldn’t have been possible without them.
From the bottom of the hearts of everyone in our organization, we want to give a heartfelt THANK YOU for your continued support of this great cause. Because of the generosity of our partners, clients, carriers and beyond, we have been able to donate over $100,000 back to this cause over the past 21 years, and we look forward to many more years of making a difference in the lives of the Special Olympians.
Here’s to planning next year – August 27, 2020. Save the date!
